We compiled a list of 12 Christmas riddles. Instead of shouting out the answers, kids will be decoding puzzles to determine the answer. The use of secret codes will keep your kids engaged from beginning to end while competing to find the final code-word. You can set the activity up as a scavenger hunt and hide the clues around the house or lay everything out on the kitchen table. The choice is yours!
Kids will seek out puzzle clues and decode the answers to help them unscramble the final secret word. The only thing you have to do is cut the puzzles in half and hide them…it’s that EASY! The harder the puzzle clues are to find, the more fun the kids have! Kids can decode the mystery puzzles alone or with a large group.

How long does this activity take to complete? It really depends on a lot of things. Estimated completion time is based on the kids’ puzzle skills, how hard the puzzles are to find in the house, and age. Best age is 8+. Younger kids may need help with decoding the puzzles.
How many kids can play at once? As many as you want! Kids can complete the activity individually or with larger groups.
How do I set up the Scavenger Hunt? To set up the Scavenger Hunt, you will need to cut the clue cards in half and hide them around the house. The harder the clues are to find, the more fun the kids have!
What if the kids get stuck on one of the puzzles? First off, let them think for a bit! This is where critical thinking skills come in. There are 6 types of puzzles. If they get stuck, hint cards have been included to guide them and provide examples.
Where do kids start? You may begin in any location of your house. It does not matter the order in which they unscramble the clues.
How do kids know if their answers are correct? There is an answer key provided in the PDF.
Do I need locks, envelopes, or special equipment? NOT AT ALL! This was created to make your life easier! Perfect for last-minute party planners! There are no fancy envelopes to stuff or odd shapes to cut out. All you will need to do is to print, cut in half, and hide the clue cards!
